Carevan Blacktown  lending a helping hand

Carevan Blacktown,

Founded in 2011 to assist and serve the community's most vulnerable members, extending a helping hand to people experiencing social and financial disadvantage and hardship of all kind.

Comprised of a group of dedicated volunteers, Carevan Blacktown provides a weekly communal meal service in a local setting, engaging the care and generosity of the community, and passing this on to those most in need. Patrons are welcomed without question, cost or criteria.

Carevan Blacktown delivers provisions which benefit those at disadvantage, to supplement households, complement services available and create a point of connection to a community that cares.

Carevan Blacktown enables connection to others in their community, those who share the same difficulties, helping to provide support through the common experience. Breaking down loneliness and isolation, principal factors in disadvantage of all types, is an important focus of Carevan Blacktown's work and underpins the provision of a seated gathering at which to serve.

We aim to create a sense of identity, belonging and achievement in those most vulnerable members of our community.

FROM OUR CEO...

"Carevan Blacktown is a non-remunerated charity organisation made up of everyday people who have a passion for assisting those who struggle to meet life’s basic needs. We are trying to show that one or two people who want to make a difference can engage and work with other like minded people to help to grow a movement that for today focuses on changing the lives of a few but ultimately may make a difference to many....

"What do we live for, if not to make life less difficult for each other?"

George Eliot
