Carevan Blacktown, is an affiliate of The Carevan Foundation, founded by Dr John Brabant in Albury in 2008 and has been working to assist those at disadvantage in the Blacktown Local area since 2012.
Carevan Blacktown is comprised of a group of dedicated volunteers, providing a weekly meal service in a local setting and engaging the care and generosity of the community, passing this on to those most in need.
Carevan delivers provisions which benefit those at disadvantage, to supplement households, complement services available and create a point of connection to a community that cares.
Carevan enables connection to others in their community, those who share the same difficulties, helping to provide support through the common experience. Breaking down loneliness and isolation, principal factors in disadvantage of all types, is an important focus of Carevan Blacktown's work and underpins the provision of a seated gathering at which to serve.
We aim to create a sense of identity, belonging and achievement in those most vulnerable members of our community.
"Carevan Blacktown is a non-remunerated charity organisation made up of everyday people who have a passion for assisting those who struggle to meet life’s basic needs. We are trying to show that one or two people who want to make a difference can engage and work with other like minded people to help to grow a movement that for today focuses on changing the lives of a few but ultimately may make a difference to many....
"What do we live for, if not to make life less difficult for each other?"
Our volunteers are from every walk of life.
Carevan needs your happy hearts and smiling faces at meal services, food and donation collections, book keeping and "behind the scenes" activities such as the all important fundraising.
There are lots of other ways to participate and help us serve the Carevan community!
