ABOUT CAREVAN BLACKTOWN

Carevan Blacktown meets every Tuesday evening at Lalor Park Community Hall at 7:00pm (volunteers arrive for set up at 6:00)

Address; Lalor Park Community Hall, Cnr. Freeman Street and Northcott Road, Lalor Park

We serve hot nutritious meals to all those who come along and we deliver a variety of other goods, provided to Carevan Blacktown by our generous contributors.

Carevan Blacktown creates a welcoming venue to share a meal and an evening with others, fostering a sense of community and providing support for those in need.

Everyone is welcome

Carevan Blacktown was founded in 2011 as an affiliate of The Carevan Foundation, established a few years earlier in Albury by Dr John Brabant. Local community members recognised a similar pressing need in the Blacktown LGA for practical support for people experiencing hardship, including food insecurity, lack of essential goods, and social isolation.

Driven by a strong commitment to compassion, dignity, and community, these volunteers came together to create Carevan Blacktown and provide care, assistance, and connection close to home, supporting people facing disadvantage of all kind.

Carevan Blacktown provides practical support to people experiencing need and disadvantage of all kinds. At the heart of this support is our meal service, which not only offers a nutritious meal but also grocery hampers, clothing, and hygiene goods. Most importantly, our service fosters community connection, bringing people together and reducing isolation.

Most recently, we have welcomed affiliated health services such as Streetside Medics to our Tuesday evening service, further strengthening our ability to care for the whole person and provide support in every way the community needs

Our weekly meal service is the focal point of our efforts, but we are no less dedicated to the objective to serve those less fortunate than ourselves. Like the Foundation, we aim to promote and put into practice the mission “…to create a sense of identity, a sense of belonging and a sense of achievement. … focused on changing “us” and “them” to become “we…”.

Run entirely by our diligent and dedicated volunteers and supported by the wider community, Carevan Blacktown relies on the generosity of our supporters across the community, through their time, donations, and contributions of all kind, enabling us to ensure that everyone who comes to us feels cared for, supported and connected to a community that cares.

If you, or someone you know, is in need of support, please join us on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

There is no cost and or eligibility criteria, just come as you are. Our service is open to everyone, providing a safe, inclusive, and non-judgemental space where people can access practical support and connect with the community.

There is plenty of parking available opposite at the Lalor Park shops and a bus service at the door
